A Pioneer

Nice primer

Very Helpful Guide

Excellent import-export primer. If your thinking of marketing your product globally read this book it is honest, informative, and filled with the fundamentals.

Not 5 stars just because optimum doesn't exist in UniverseEasy reading is the main pro of this work. Not technical at all, absolutely for all. I'm getting a degree in philosophy and I really appreciated the author's try to involve, (real a hard try!) Mr John Rawls to build a social and political framework around crypto policies. I'm not a Rawls' fan, but It makes sense if we consider the author's starting point, separating Rawls' theory and practical applications.
Finally the real crypto controversy: power to citizens or to governments? The solution: balance between the parties (similar to Rawls' balance between classes). Just one consideration (maybe I'm too critic): in John Rawls theory, balance is like a component of human nature (to be very simple), in the real world people will probably need to fight to get this.
However this book is a real good job.

Great Book to Understand the Topic CRM

Great blend of overview and detail...Most importantly, both business and IT managers will gain both an overall and detailed understanding of how Data Warehouse and E-Commerce projects work in concert. This book complements well my library of books by Imhoff, Inmon, and others.

Very good, broad ranging, but ?????But after reading it I have a few negative impressions that I will air first:
- Some of the pages/paragraphs are tough going, in the effort to be complete I think the author has lost some clarity, but this can happen
- The title is a little confusing/disappointing, the use of .NET in the title is not very accurate, as only all/most of the material does apply to pre .NET Microsoft technologies (i.e. ASP, etc...). But in saying this all of the complete/broad topics are relevant to a .NET project, its just that Microsoft are going to be releasing .NET enterprise servers soon (sometime in Q3 2002) and .NET enterprise server have some very useful/unique features that are not covered in the book
- The book makes way too many references to .NET enterprise servers, in an effort to give the reader that the book is strongly .NET focused when the reality is that all of the topics also apply to Pre .NET technologies ( and sometimes not even microsoft technologies).
In favor of the book I will say it is a good read:
- It gives a good insight into what options exist and what architectures can be utilised. I would recommend the book for anyone that deals with large scale web sites ( including System Administrators, Technical Architects, engineers and developers)
- The book is written in a prose style but in certain sections it also can be used as a reference.
In conclusion, I think the book is very good, focusing very strongly on the current options (including Win 2K, MS SQL 2K etc...) but not looking to the future. It could do with an update (aka 2nd edition) as I think once the .NET enterprise server become GOLD, people will need to know more specifics about it and IIS 6.0; (and perhaps a little more about the actual .NET technology, cause if the book is aimed at administrators it won't be enough for them)
regards,
P.
